Kanab's Small Town Independence Day Celebration
Join us for the best small town Independence Day celebration in the country! Celebrate Independence Day and our "Forever Freedom"!
As the phased re-opening of the state’s economy progresses, our staff is diligently working on modifications to safely move forward with this event. Specific details of safety and precautionary measures and any other new changes, will be provided as we move forward in the planning process.
We will make necessary enhanced adjustments in order to minimize the health impacts of COVID-19. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, there is a risk of exposure to the virus when in a public setting. By visiting this event, guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Even visitors feel at home and full of patriotism when they celebrate the 4th of July in Southern Utah! Listen bright and early at 6:00 AM for the cannons as they Blast Off!, awakening the whole town for the days festivities. Soon after, join in on a Color Fun Run 5K starting at the church in the center of town at 7:00AM.
Then, at 10:00 AM join the town on Center Street for a parade you’ll have the chance to see twice, as the parade turns around at the end of the street, only to end just where it began! This year’s theme is “Forever Freedom”.
After the parade, find yourself at Jacob Hamblin Park for vendors, entertainment, and many more festivities throughout the day and into the evening.
Apply to be a Vendor during this event today!
Once the sun sets at 9:30 PM, prepare yourself for one of the most unique firework shows you have ever seen! Fireworks shoot off overhead at Jacob Hamblin park, illuminating the red cliffs while sending echoes all throughout the town.
Celebrate Independence day in small town USA and we’re sure you’ll return again, and again! Will you join us in celebrating our “Forever Freedom”?
We’re excited to announce that 20 Hands High & Mothers of Mayhem will be performing live in Kanab this Independence Day!

As we approach July, we would like to remind everyone of the restricted fireworks areas in place. We want everyone to have a SAFE and happy 4th of July.
The following are the areas in Kanab where Fireworks are BANNED:
- All areas south of 750 South
- All areas west of 300 West
- All areas east of 600 East (east of Cemetery)
- These areas include all of Kanab Creek Ranchos, Cedar Heights, La Estancia, Sedona Valley, The Cove, Coral Cliffs Golf Course and Mesa Hills subdivisions
Discharge times and dates:
Between the hours of 11 am and 11 pm except as noted:
- July 2 – July 5 (July 4th hours extended to midnight)
- July 22 – 25 (July 24th hours extended to midnight)
- December 31 (11 am – 1 am Jan. 1) Chinese New Year’s Eve (11 am – 1 am the following day)
Fireworks can be an exciting way to celebrate. Fireworks need to be treated with respect and care. With the drier than normal spring this year the area has experienced an increase in fire potential, all vegetation will easily ignite and spread fire rapidly!
It is recommended that fireworks only be used in large open spaces where conditions are present to provide for fire control.
We hope to prevent any fires from Fireworks, but history tells us that there will be an increase in calls to the fire department over the next month.
