Trails

Over 65 miles of new hiking and bike trails

Kane County, working in concert with the Zion Forever Project and The Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation, is constructing, for the first time ever, 25 miles of mountain bike trail as part of the larger East Side Initiative.  This trail system will be the recreational companion to 40-miles of hiking trail connecting into Zion National Park. Over 1.5 million visitors enter Zion National Park through its East Zion gateway. This project extends recreation opportunities beyond the park for millions of visitors and local residents, providing relief to the visitation impacts seen in Zion’s main canyon while preserving the sanctity of park borders. The network of trails and features backed by views of Zion’s peaks and valleys, provide riders of all levels access to this recreational opportunity at the eastern gateway of Zion National Park. Fully accessible to the public, its protection is ensured in perpetuity through trail easements donated by Zion Mountain Ranch. The first 10 miles of trail are near completion, offering unparalleled views of the scenic and wild East Side of Zion National Park.
