As if that isn’t enough, the famous Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is just a few miles from the center of town, with free tours and volunteer opportunities. Check in with the Office of Tourism Visitor Center and the Grand Staircase-Escalante Visitor Center for details.

Local Favorite
Enjoy a tremendous slot canyon without being rushed by a crowd. One of our local gems is Red Canyon or as the locals call it, PeekaBoo. Best approached by 4-wheeling on sand, the trip culminates with the thrill of a stroll through a glorious passage of brilliant, rippled and fluted rock that will tantalize photographer and hiker alike. A must-do! Don’t have a 4-wheel drive vehicle? Hire one of our great local guides!
