A Magical “Abra Kanabra” Type of Place!
Situated right in the heart of TEN of America’s Most Scenic Wonders, friendly Kanab is the perfect base-camp for exploring the astounding Colorado Plateau. Unpack once, and be free to explore three national parks, five national monuments, two stat parks, a renowned national recreation area and two national forests, as well as a great many colorful local attractions.
Kanab has a variety of accommodations, ranging from the luxury hotels to intimate bed & breakfasts, and food as varied as chuck wagon cookout grub to fine dining. For your daily expeditions, Kanab has some of the best outdoor guides & outfitters in Southern Utah, ready to take you and your family on the adventure of a lifetime: canyoneering, horseback riding, exploring slot canyons, or those “secret” hard-to-reach places. Make arrangements for back-country hiking, ATV tours, star parties, and even professional photographic tours.
As if that isn’t enough, the famous Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is just a few mile form the center of town, with free tours and volunteer opportunities. Check in with the Office of Tourism Visitor Center and the Grand Staircase-Escalante Visitor Center for details.
There is no better place to call your “home-away-from-home” while visiting the greatest concentration of natural wonders in the world. Kanab is indeed Magically Unspoiled.
Join a parade! Kanab has absolutely the best hometown Western-style parades in the nation, and we use any and every excuse to march up and down Center Street. Ask our friendly Visitor Center Hosts about float committees – you might find yourself in pioneer costume walking down Center Street!
EASY TO CHALLENGING: The Kanab Trails System has a great variety of trails easily accessible from town. Ranging from sandy desert flats to steep canyon inclines, great views, diverse terrain and dog friendly.
Enjoy a tremendous slot canyon without being rushed by a crowd. One of our local gems is Red Canyon or as the locals call it, PeekaBoo. Best approached by 4-wheeling on sand, the trip culminates with the thrill of a stroll through a glorious passage of brilliant, rippled and fluted rock that will tantalize photographer and hiker alike. A must-do! Don’t have a 4-wheel drive vehicle? Hire one of our great local guides!
