White Pocket’s stunning rolling sandstone is a local favorite. It’s located 75 miles East of Kanab, Utah on the Paria Plateau in Northern Arizona.
While many are lured and wait their turn to visit the infamous “Wave” in the North Coyote Buttes, White Pocket doesn’t require a permit. It’s a great place to skip the crowds, and bask in its remote, four-wheel-drive-access-only solitude.
This unique collection of domes and ridges within the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument will fill your sense of adventure!
As you wander through the colors, shapes and textures of White Pocket, remember that it’s extremely fragile. The utmost care should be taken to preserve its natural beauty. Stay on the slickrock when possible, but be careful not to snap off thin fins or trample the delicate vegetation between the small mounds of sandstone. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) asks that you tread lightly and leave it how you found it.
After your exploration-filled visit to White Pocket, be sure to check out Cottonwood Cove nearby!
